About Woodland Wonders
Look after a woodland and its wildlife.Help the ranger team at Gibside look after the wildlife-rich, eighteenth-century landscape. You’ll be getting hands-on in the 600-acre woodland, tackling a variety of tasks under the canopy of green to make it a haven for both wildlife and people. While working as part of the woodland team, you’ll discover a mix of man-made and natural sights including log bridges, sunken pathways that used to be wagon ways, soaring red kites, carved wooden animals, and spectacular views across the Derwent Valley.
This break will give you an insight into the varied work of a National Trust ranger, including nature conservation, access, presentation and restoration in the historic woodlands at Gibside.
