'Awakening' exhibition at Leith Hill Place
In May and June the house hosted its first ever open call exhibition, entitled 'Awakening', looking at the arrival of spring and the blossoming of the garden. Work selected from over 30 artists was on display.
With 58 artists having submitted work for consideration, it was a tough job to narrow the selection down to a reasonable number which could be displayed in the gallery space. Pieces were chosen for their relevance to the theme and the local area, as well as for standing out with a unique style or quirky interpretation of the brief.
The 31 artists selected offered a variety of media including prints, jewellery, sculpture, ceramics and 3D work as well as paintings and sketches. The majority of the work was for sale.
The exhibition was open Friday to Sunday from 3 May-30 June, 11am-5pm.
