Summer of Play in Surrey

There’s loads of new family fun laid on, with the National Trust’s Summer of Play, sponsored by Starling Bank. Jam-packed with playful experiences and drop-in activities, all set against the backdrop of the Trust’s historic houses and beautiful gardens. Let imaginations run wild.

Summer of Play at Polesden Lacey 

Spend long summer days enjoying games and activities in Crab Apple Orchard. Ride on mini tractors in the Tiny Explorer toddler zone, play at the bean bag toss, or try a game of Ranger-versus-Gardener top trumps. All inspired by the work carried out by the rangers and gardeners who look after Polesden Lacey's outside spaces. Let off steam clambering over hay bales. Or climb, swing and slide at the natural play area. 19 July to 3 Sept.

Summer of Play at Hatchlands Park 

With plenty of open spaces to explore, a natural play area in Great Wix Wood and resident donkeys, there’s lots to discover at Hatchlands Park. For this year’s Summer of Play challenge friends and family to games and sports, choose your dressing up costume, put on a show on the outdoor stage, and enjoy creative and sensory play. Have fun scarecrow spotting - see how many you can find dotted around the parkland, 23 July – 3 Sept.

Moomins at Claremont Landscape Garden 

Take a magical wander inspired by Moominvalley, with a family trail in the garden meeting characters from the Moomin stories. Pick up a Moomin trail sheet and receive Moomin stickers when you find all the characters. 26 July to 31 August.

Winkworth Arboretum 

There’s Pirate Play for families at Winkworth Arboretum from 19 Aug to 5 Sept. Pick up your treasure map from the kiosk and head on over to the pirate ship in the play area to search for the missing gold. Get hooked on some fun-filled games and activities amidst the trees and let your imagination run wild on a swash-buckling adventure.
