Leap into a fantasy world this festive season with an exhibition and programme of events and activities celebrating Quentin Blake’s extraordinary artwork. Visit the house to see it decorated ready for Christmas, have a go at festive craft and a family trail, join a storytelling session in the gallery and enjoy school holiday boredom busters.

Flights of Fancy: the Wondrous World of Quentin Blake 

Leap into a fantasy world with a new exhibition of work from legendary illustrator, Sir Quentin Blake. Open from Saturday 26 October until Sunday 19 April.

Frog Sculpture Trail at Nymans

Frog Sculptures 

Inspired by Quentin Blake’s ‘The Story of the Dancing Frog’, a sculpture trail of froggy dancers comes to the garden this Christmas. The frogs have been created especially for Nymans in conjunction with Wild in Art, our partners in last year’s Snowdog art trail. Sat 23 Nov – Sun 5 Jan

Festive family trail 

Dance your way through the garden on a fun trail inspired by the artwork and stories of Quentin Blake. Look for dance themed frogs, their colourful costumes and props. Don't forget to choose your favourite dancing frog too. Sat 23 Nov – Sun 5 Jan, £1 normal admission applies.

Storytelling at Nymans


Storyteller Jason Buck brings tales from the wondrous world of Quentin Blake to life in the gallery. Sat 14, 21 and 28 Dec. Free, normal admission applies.

School holidays boredom busters

House For the first time ever, the house will be open throughout the winter. From Saturday 23 November explore the beautifully decorated house with Christmas trees and festive decorations. Normal admission

Christmas cake to tempt you

Nymans cafe  

Whether you’re here for lunch or a tempting teatime treat, the café has a range of delicious festive bakes from gingerbread muffins, mince pie bakewell and froggy gingerbread. For vegans a special ‘cream’ tea is available. Enjoy traditional Christmas lunch too and finish up with a satisfyingly indulgent pudding.
