Sutton House is changing for the better. In 2019, we will be offering pre-booked tours and self-guided visits, as well as our seasonal exhibitions.

We are open all year apart from January.

Please be aware: We sometimes have to close for private events. To check whether we are open on a specific date, please check the opening times on our home page, or call 0208 986 2264.

During school holidays:

Over Easter (April), Summer (from 10th July to 2nd September), the Halloween Half-Term (23- 27 October) and Christmas, visitors will be able to explore our seasonal exhibitions for a self-guided visit without pre-booking.

(Please be aware that additions, such as the Easter Egg trail or visiting Santa, are in addition to the entrance cost.)

Self-Guided Visit

Weekends and Bank Holiday Mondays, 12.00-17.00

Explore 500 year old Sutton House at your own pace. Experience Tudor, Georgian, Victorian and 1980s historic rooms. Entry includes access to our exhibition about Clive Jenkins and the ASTMS Trade Union, and a recreation of his office as it may have appeared between the 1950s and 1980s.

Bookable Guided Tours

Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, 15.00 start.

Experience Hackney's oldest home with a tour led by a Sutton House expert. Learn about past residents from 500 years of history and the many unique ways the house has been used, including as a home to Thomas Cromwell's right hand man, a Victorian school, and a 1980s squat. Explore a newly installed recreation of the office of Clive Jenkins and the ASTMS Trade Union who were based here from the 1950s-1980s. There will be time to explore at your own pace following the tour.

Bookable Twilight Tours

Wednesday, 18.00 start.

Enjoy the same experience as our day-time tour, but with the added atmosphere provided by the falling dusk.
