Hand Of Arts and Education Charity working with Sutton House this Summer term
Hand Of is an arts and education charity dedicated to enriching the education of disadvantaged children and young people, by working together with schools, heritage buildings and archives. Their projects positively impact children’s experience of education, allowing them to express their imaginations by collaborating with artists and exploring their local history.
Last year, they brought together disadvantaged children from 3 local primary schools, for 7 days of exciting and creative workshops at Sutton House. Through these workshops, the children created a vibrant and impressive final show - a piece of music-theatre sharing tales from Sutton House’s history, and exploring the ways in which their own lives and experiences are now part of the House’s future.
In June 2018, they’ll be bringing the project back to Sutton House. Puppetry artist Rachel Warr returns to lead the project, joined this year by acclaimed jazz ensemble Nérija. This stellar team of artists will guide the children through the history of Sutton House, and together the group will create a captivating addition to this year’s exploration of women and power.
