Have your wedding at Sutton House

Looking for a unique wedding venue? What about an unexpected treasure nestled in a leafy oasis close to London's centre? Sutton House is a 16th-century stone-bricked house, the oldest domestic dwelling in Hackney, and we'd love for you to get married here.

Unique choice of beautiful spaces for hire

Oak panelling, open fires and a large barn accessed through the wisteria-adorned courtyard make Sutton House an idyllic setting for weddings and parties.

500-year-old Sutton House offers a great selection of historic rooms for 14, 50, or 100 guests. Couples and guests can either enjoy a two-hour ceremony and drinks reception, or may wish to hire the whole house for the evening to bring in caterers and have a celebratory party.

The Great Chamber

The stunning Tudor oak-panelled Great Chamber is the most popular choice for ceremonies at Sutton House. It includes the smaller ante-chamber, called the Little Chamber. These spaces are on the first floor and are not wheelchair accessible.

The Great Chamber has a capacity of 50 guests plus the registrars and the happy couple. The Little Chamber has a replica harpsicord which can be hired to be played throughout the wedding. After the ceremony guests often have a drinks reception in the Little Chamber or tranquil courtyard, with photographs throughout the house.

Prices begin at £1000 for a 2-hour ceremony and drinks reception.

The Wenlock Barn

This is the largest capacity space for a wedding at Sutton House, as it can host up to 100 guests for a ceremony. Situated on the ground floor, it is fully wheelchair accessible.

The Wenlock Barn is a bright Edwardian space that leads onto the peaceful and leafy courtyard: a flawless setting for a ceremony and outdoor drinks reception. A Steinway Grand Piano can be hired to play the couple down the aisle.

Prices begin at £1200 for a 2-hour ceremony and drinks reception.

The Linenfold Parlour

The Linenfold Parlour gets its name from its rare floor-to-ceiling wooden panelling, in which intricate patterns are carved to look like draped cloth. This intimate space is perfect for smaller ceremonies of up to 14 guests, and an open fire can be arranged for ambience and warmth in cooler months.

The Linenfold Parlour is on the ground floor and close to the secluded courtyard, which is an ideal spot for drinks and photographs after the ceremony. With level access from the entrance, this room is wheelchair accessible.

Prices begin at £800 for a 2-hour ceremony and drinks reception.

Evening receptions at Sutton House

Our full wedding package includes use of the Great Chamber or Wenlock Barn for a ceremony followed by a drinks reception in the Little Chamber or courtyard, then dinner and celebrations in the Arts and Crafts-style Wenlock Barn.

The Wenlock Barn can comfortably seat 60 people for a formal dinner and accommodate up to 120 people for a party. Sutton House does not have an on-site caterer, however our kitchen may be used by a caterer of your choice.

Prices begin at £3500.
