Lee Bay offers an entry place to the South West Coast path, the picturesque village of Lee, beaches to explore and plenty of walks. Find out below about what you can do in this designated area of outstanding natural beauty.
Lee Bay is the perfect starting point for exploring some of North Devon’s most scenic coastline. Access the South West Coast Path directly from the village and head west towards Bull Point for dramatic cliffs and sweeping sea views, or follow the route east towards the Torrs at Ilfracombe.
For a more sheltered walk, wander through the woodland in Borough Valley. In spring, the valley comes alive with vibrant bluebells and wildflowers, offering a peaceful contrast to the rugged coastline.
Lee Bay is home to Lee Beach and Sandy Cove, both within walking distance of the car park. These rocky, sheltered beaches are almost completely covered at high tide, but at low tide they reveal rock pools and hidden corners to explore.
Please be aware there are no lifeguards and the area is known for its strong currents.

At low tide, Lee Bay becomes a haven for rock pooling. The area is teeming with marine life. Look out for crabs, starfish, barnacles and sea anemones, along with many other fascinating creatures that call these pools home.
Don’t forget to check tide times before heading out to make the most of your visit and stay safe while exploring.
After a day of exploring, stop by the The Old Schoolroom Craft Gallery (not NT) for a hot drink or ice cream. Looking for a sit-down pub meal? Head up to the Grampus Inn (not NT) who value home-cooked food.
