Volunteers play a huge part in caring for the 1000 year old ruins and helping visitors at Corfe Castle. The team is always looking for friendly, approachable and passionate people to join us. Volunteering here offers a chance to learn new skills, meet new people, share a love of Corfe Castle and the wider Purbeck estate. There are all sorts of volunteering opportunities available at Corfe Castle, so there’s something to suit everyone.
Each year Corfe Castle welcomes over 200,000 visitors. Our Visitor Experience team host numerous events and programmes for our visitors each year. Events and welcome volunteers provide a welcoming presence and assist the team with activities in the castle.

Would you like to share your enthusiasm about history? The past is always present at Corfe Castle and we need enthusiastic individuals to bring it alive for our visitors and enhancing their experience.
Do you like a good thriller? Or are you more a romantic? Our bookshop volunteers know where to find the poetry section, or the holiday reads. Duties include organising and tidying the two bookshops, sorting through donations, displaying books and welcoming visitors.
Bringing Corfe Castle to life for visitors through demonstrations of traditional crafts and skills that would once have been part of castle life.
Passionate about the past? Love landscapes? Why not join our Heritage & Archaeology Ranger Team (HART). Our HART volunteers help us to discover, record, look after and share the incredible archaeology across our coast, countryside, parks and gardens.
Our construction rangers focus mainly on carpentry work in the castle for example building replica mason's lodge buildings and the castle's trebuchet, they also assist with creating equipment for our events throughout the year.

Dedicated volunteers also help run the National Trust’s wider Purbeck estate, which includes Studland Bay.
The friendly group of handy people meet twice a week to carry out different practical tasks helping maintain the buildings and infrastructure across the Purbecks. This role suits anyone with DIY skills or trade experience, who enjoys working as part of a team.
The small but dedicated gardening group helps look after the holiday cottage gardens throughout the Isle of Purbeck. They also care for tea-room garden at Corfe Castle.
