Family-friendly things to do at Uppark
Bring the whole family along for an adventure at Uppark. Look out for wildlife on a nature walk around the meadow, enjoy a picnic with spectacular views or try flying your kite on the breeze over the South Downs.
Uppark House & Garden is currently closed until Summer 2025
We look forward to welcoming you back to Uppark from 27 July 2025 following some essential conservation works.
Planning your family visit
- Baby-changing facilities are available by the bookshop
- Pushchairs are allowed around the grounds but not in the house
- Children under 5 go free
- Children are welcome on guided tours of the house.
Family-friendly things to do in the grounds
Join us for some open-air theatre this summer, go on a wildlife walk, enjoy a picnic or fly your kite.
Robin Hood outdoor theatre
Performance date and time 31 July 2.00pm
Show duration 1 hour with no interval
Come and meet Robin Hood and his gang as they battle against the evil Sheriff of Nottingham in this open-air play by DOT Productions. It's an hour of pure escapism that will leave all the family with smiles on their faces!

The Tale of Jemima Puddle Duck outdoor theatre
Performance date and time 13 August 2.00pm
Show duration 1 hour 30 minutes, including a 15-minute interval
Quantum Theatre is back with a brand new adaptation of the much-loved Beatrix Potter Tale, The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck. Join Jemima on her feather-ruffling adventures in this delightful new adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s family favourite.

Go on a nature walk
Follow our leisurely Meadow Walk for a chance to see widlife including birds, butterflies and maybe even a brown hare. Make stops along the way to enjoy spectacular views across the South Downs and as far as the Isle of Wight.

Have a picnic
There's a picnic area with benches on the green opposite Visitor Reception, but you're free to picnic anywhere around the grounds, including in the meadow.
Fly your kite
Thanks to Uppark's position high up on the South Downs, the meadow is also a great place to fly a kite.
However, while we have scaffolding at Uppark, please don't fly your kite nearby.
