Wicken Fen is calling this half-term

Children can get closer to nature at Wicken Fen

Become the explorer you were meant to be at Wicken Fen this half-term. From cuckoos calling, to pond dipping and mud oven cooking, here's a few ideas to get you closer to nature.

Fun packed days

We've got some great things planned for the kids during the school holidays and we'll be celebrating a daily activity to get involved in - from getting started with your first geocache, to building a den or tracking animals.

Book one of our pond dipping and minibeast hunting events or join our 50 things programme, available every day for all the family.

Wonderful wildlife

With over 9,000 recorded plants and animals, you're bound to see some amazing wildlife. You can spy on birds, bugs and beasts from nine wildlife hides around the nature reserve.

Explore on two legs...

Enjoy a family stroll at any pace around the all-weather boardwalk, explore our woodland walk and build a den or head out for a longer walk to discover new fenland.

...or two wheels

Grab some wheels and explore the wider reserve, local villages, have an off-road blast, or cycle the Lodes Way to Anglesey Abbey. Bring your own wheels or hire one of our bikes (just ask in the Visitor Centre).
