Christmas at Ightham Mote

Ightham Mote decorated for Christmas

Celebrate the festive season with us at Ightham Mote as we decorate the ground floor of the house for Christmas past. Find some unique presents in the shop then relax in the café with a warm drink and a piece of cake.

Enter the Great Hall where the Victorian celebrations are about to begin. The fire is lit, the Christmas tree is decorated, and the table is laid awaiting the family’s arrival. In the small Dining Room, the table is laid for the family’s breakfast. As you wander around the servant’s areas, you’ll see preparations are underway in the Butler’s Pantry and Kitchen, whilst the Housekeeper’s Room is set for her afternoon tea.

When you enter the Library, you will be transported to a 1950s American Christmas, which Mr Robinson’s nephew remembers them sharing each year. The stockings are hung over the fireplace with care, and brightly coloured lights and sparkling lametta adorn the tree.

Open daily Sat 30 Nov - Sun 5 Jan 2020, except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
