Christmas at Ightham Mote 2016
Visit Ightham Mote during the festive season for our celebration of Christmas past with our decorated house.
From Saturday 26 November, through to Monday 2 January, the ground floor of the house will be open and dressed for Christmas.
In the servants' areas, you can see the preparations for the grand festivities, which are taking place in the Great Hall. You will be greeted by a roaring fire and large Christmas tree, with presents underneath, whilst the large table is laid awaiting those guests who spent Christmas here in 1891.
As you wander into the Library, you will be greeted by an interpretation of a 1950s Christmas. The last owner, Mr Charles Henry Robinson (who gave Ightham Mote to the National Trust) was an American, from Maine in New England. The Library was the room he loved here the most, and his nephew, Tim Robinson, has helped us tell the story of Christmases he remembered with his uncle back in America. Brightly coloured lights, shimmering lametta, candy canes and gingerbread house combine to create a more modern feel.
There's a children's trail to keep the little ones occupied.
Normal admission charges apply.
26 - 27 November, 11am - 3pm
Father Christmas is visiting us and will be handing out little gifts to good children, and there will be local produce stalls to get those Christmas gifts. Festive music will resonate throughout the rooms to add to the atmosphere.
Normal admission applies.
