Christmas at Ightham Mote

Ightham Mote decorated for Christmas

From Sat 1 December 2018 to Tues 1 January 2019, join us as we decorate the ground floor of Ightham Mote for Christmas.

As you enter the Servant's quarters, preparations are underway in the Butler's Pantry for the grand Victorian Christmas in the Great Hall, whilst the Housekeeper's Room is quietly laid out for her to relax with tea and cake. In the Great Hall, the fire is lit, the table is laid, and the presents are under a real Christmas tree. I wonder who will be coming to dinner?

Upon entering the Library, you will be transported to the 1950s to celebrate Mr Robinson's New England style American Christmas. With stockings hung by the fire with care, and fairy lights and sparkly lametta, the difference is there for all to see.

New for 2018: We're opening the Kitchen, Scullery and Dining Room for the first time to enable you to see more of the traditional servant's areas. They're being presented 'as is' so we can gather feedback on how they could be used in the future.

Please note: only the downstairs of the house is open.

Christmas weekend

Saturday 1 - Sunday 2 December, 10am - 3pm

Ightham Mote's Christmas traditions begin with a mini-market. Away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre, you'll pick up some unique Christmas treats for those who like that little 'something different'. Stalls include confectionary, candles, glass flowers, jewellery, woodcrafts, art and ceramics.

Father Christmas will be taking time out from his busy schedule to pop along and give the children a small gift (£2.50 per child). Children will also be able to enjoy a Christmas Craft activity in the Squire's Room, and take part in a quiz around the decorated house.

Choirs will be on hand to add to the atmosphere, so why not pop along and join in.

Normal admission applies.
