Homes for woodland creatures on Limpsfield Common

What’s happening at Ridlands Grove? Little houses made of wood are springing up in between our trees...

One of our volunteers decided to do something creative with the left over cut timber from a woodland management day. Rather than stacking the wood in the usual way he made a little house for woodland creatures.

After the huge success of the first house, Hedgehog Hall, other houses were built by our volunteers in our magical woodland, including Peter Rabbit’s Post Office and Fox Villa.

Children have left letters for Peter Rabbit and his friends at the Post Office. Visit too and post a letter - see if you can find all the little houses. At the moment there’re five but more may magically appear if we get planning permission.

Maybe you could build a small house or den like Badger’s mighty stronghold with the twigs and logs found on the woodland floor. Or if you’re lucky, and as quiet as a mouse, you may even spot one of our secretive woodland creatures. A good time to visit is first thing in the morning or last thing at night.

You can find Ridlands Grove just off Ridlands Lane which is about half a mile south of the A25 on the B269 (Kent Hatch Road) heading towards Edenbridge from Oxted.

Creep into the woods and see what’s happening....
