Easter family fun in North Wales

Easter is a great time to get the family together, especially to get outdoors after the long winter months. As we welcome a burst of sunshine and warming temperatures join us at our castles, gardens, coast and countryside places in North Wales for a host of events.

There’s a garden full of opportunities waiting for you at Bodnant this Easter. A host of activities have been planned from bug bingo, teddy bear trails, pond dipping, storytelling, and of course the Cadbury Egg Hunt. All of this can be enjoyed throughout their world-class garden including Furnace Wood and Meadow that will be opening on 11 April.

Throughout Easter holidays Chirk Castle want to challenge you to get back into nature. Start off with their nature trail roaming through 480 acres of parkland. Then top up your skills at survival school where kids can discover which plants, trees and food could help them survive (including edible insects)! If that’s not your thing join the Cadbury Egg Hunt through the gardens over the Easter holiday weekend.

To celebrate 40 years of being open to the public Erddig have introduced a new flock of sheep to the gardens. Gather the sheep and find the clues to learn how Erddig has changed over the last 40 years. But sheep aren’t the only animals hiding at Erddig, during Cadbury’s Egg Hunt look out for rabbits around the garden and outbuildings and Easter chicks in the historic home.

Penrhyn Castle needs your help this Easter, while the conservation team were busy cleaning a mob of bunnies invaded the castle, can you help by spotting them all? Bunny has also been helping the buzzing bees and hidden clues amongst the flowers and trees around the castle; can you find them all and earn your Cadbury chocolate prize? And if that’s not enough, they also need your help to solve the mystery of 'The Great Paper Caper'…

While Bunny’s was on holiday in Aberdaron he visited Porth y Swnt and left clues around the centre and the village for curious children to find. Can you find the clues to claim your chocolate prize? Throughout Easter you can also try the Porth y Swnt scrapbook, find the hidden animals with an UV torch and create your own poetry in the Sea of Words.

There’s a special quest in the garden at Powis this Easter, and we’re calling bold explorers, big and small to join in. Hunt along the terraces, in the shade of gigantic yew hedges and among the flowers in the Edwardian gardens for clues that will help you to claim a delicious Cadbury chocolate bunny prize.

The red dragon has been spotted flying above Snowdonia and our rangers believe the dragon’s been hiding its eggs in Cwm Idwal or Beddgelert. Choose your quest wisely and pick-up your map at Tŷ Isaf, Beddgelert or Ogwen Cottage ranger base and go in search of dragon eggs.
