Visiting Watersmeet with a group

Watersmeet is the perfect location to visit with your group. With a beautiful historic tea room at the heart of the valley, Watersmeet is a great starting location for a wander, walk or longer hike, rounded off with a bite to eat or a warming drink. Find out about how to book and the information you need to plan your visit.

When can groups visit Watersmeet?

Watersmeet welcomes groups throughout the year, during opening hours. For groups of 10 people of moore pre-booking is essential to ensure a good selection of food and drinks, as well as seating, is available. Please enquire well in advance to check for group visit availability on your chosen day.

Arrival at Watersmeet

There are no coach parking spaces in the watermeet carpark (not National Trust), the nearest coach parking is at Lynmouth, a 1 ½ mile walk from watermeet along the river. For mini buses and cars there are two parking options:

  • The District Council car park on the A39. Charges are £1 per hour. Pay machine only takes silver coins. There are reserved spaces for disabled parking close to the pay machine. The walk down to Watersmeet House is approx 400m. The path in places is narrow and steep. There are no steps.
  • National Trust Car Park at Combe Park. Free parking. Also picnic area by car park. There is a level access route of approx 700m from the car park to Watersmeet House. Follow signs to avoid steps.

Access

A mobility toilet is located at Watersmeet House, and is open when the tea-room is. The grounds here are partially accessible. They are well maintained, but naturally uneven gravel and grass coastal paths around Countisbury with some steep sections and lots of steps.
