The Robin's Tale: Christmas 2026 at Ham House
From 28 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, get into the festive spirit with a visit to Ham House, sumptuously decorated for Christmas.
This year’s Christmas story, The Robin’s Tale, is inspired by a newly conserved lacquer screen, which will be on display. Join our jolly robin on a Christmas adventure as he flies from room to room to reunite the phoenix with her tail, and spot intricate paper bird sculptures, created especially for us by a local artist.
Along the way, take in the magnificent Stuart interiors decorated with twinkling candlelight and fairy lights, Christmas trees and aromatic greenery.
House open 11.30–3.30 daily (last entry 3pm) and gardens 10–4 (last entry 3.30pm).

Festive family fun
Inside the house (open 11.30–3.30, last entry 3pm), follow The Robin’s Tale, our Christmas adventure, through the house as you take in beautifully decorated trees, twinkling lights and paper bird sculptures made by a local artist.
Discover books, toys, and floor cushions in the beautifully decorated Back Parlour, then head below stairs for more activities. Little ones can try dressing up and write a letter to the North Pole. Discover a sugar banquet display in the historic kitchen.
Have a seasonal feast
Our Orangery Café (open 10-3.30 daily) is the perfect spot to catch up with family and friends over festive treats and warming drinks.

Christmas shopping
Find a special gift for friends and family in our shop. Open 10.30–3.30, visit to browse artisan gifts and decorations, fashion accessories, cosy homeware, sweet treats and more. We’ve got any bookworms on your gift list covered with our second-hand bookshop (open 10.30–3.30).
A National Trust membership is the gift that keeps giving. Ask any team member to find out more about gifting a membership this Christmas, creating future memories throughout the year to remember forever.
