A Once upon a Time... The Snow Queen
Step inside the pages of a fairy tale as The Children's Country House transforms into the story of The Snow Queen this Christmas.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
From 21 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, discover the magical story of The Snow Queen at The Children’s Country House at Sudbury.
This Christmas, Hans Christian Andersen’s enchanting tale The Snow Queen takes over The Children’s Country House, with rooms transformed into a magical winter story for the whole family to explore.
Follow the tale through the house as you journey from the warmth of home into a shimmering world of frost and snow. Discover beautifully decorated rooms, imaginative scenes and delightful details inspired by Gerda’s extraordinary adventure to find her friend Kay and bring him home.
Along the way, encounter characters and moments from the story, from magical gardens and wintry landscapes to the dazzling realm of the Snow Queen herself. Look closely as you explore, there will be plenty for young visitors, and grown-ups, to discover.
This year’s celebration of The Snow Queen continues our ‘Once Upon a Time’ theme, where classic stories are reimagined with a Children’s Country House twist. Conclude your visit with a cosy visit to the café, for warm treats and hot chocolate.
Bring the whole family to experience the magic of Christmas at The Children’s Country House.
