Tummy rumbling? Break up your adventures at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal with some tasty refreshments. Afterwards, look for the perfect gift or a treat for yourself in the National Trust shop and plant centre.

Eating at Fountains Abbey

The Visitor Centre Restaurant

A range of seasonal food is served at the Visitor Centre Restaurant, with hot meals, sandwiches and sweet treats among the items on the menu. If you're not feeling peckish, you can simply enjoy a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Indoor and outdoor seating is available, or you can choose to take your purchases away with you.

Studley Tearoom

The Studley Royal tea-room is perfect if you're looking for a light bite or a cup of tea before your walk. Grab a quick lunch or snack to enjoy inside the tea-room or on the outdoor tables overlooking the lake. You're welcome to take a treat away with you as you continue on your adventures too.

The Mill Cafe

The Mill Kiosk is the place to go for a light bite to eat, sweet treat and a drink if you’re exploring the area by the abbey. With seating inside and benches outside, it's the perfect spot for enjoying the lovely view across the green.

What's on the menu?

The daily selection varies depending on product availability. For a flavour of the season, let us whet your appetite with...

  • Hot meals such as fritata, hot baps, Yorkshire rarebit and salads.
  • Jacket potatoes served with salad, coleslaw and a topping of choice.
  • Hot Cornish or vegetable pasties.
  • Warming soups and one pots served with a bread roll.
  • Cakes and tray bakes including chocolate chip cookies, flapjack, and a selection of National Trust scones.
  • Sandwiches, crisps and hot and cold drinks.

We can highly recommend the wild garlic soup, made with wild garlic growing in the Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal estate.

Picnicing on the lawn?

Bring a blanket and picnic in the landscape whilst enjoying views of the abbey and water garden. Or sit at a picnic tables at the Visitor Centre. Forgotten your flask? You can always pick up a hot drink at any of the cafes and kiosks.

Remember your reuseable cup

You are more than welcome to bring your own reusable cup – you'll get 25p off your hot drink as a thank you.

Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal is also part of the reusable cup scheme. If you're picking up a drink on arrival ask for a resuable cup so that you can take it with you as you explore the site. When you've finished, simply drop your cup in the cup bins provided and we'll wash and reuse them. Or better still...bring back for another brew.
