About Cwmmau Farmhouse
An impressive early 17th-century farmhouse located in a stunning area of Herefordshire.Down winding lanes, in a beautiful and remote area of the Welsh Marches in Herefordshire, you'll find Cwmmau Farmhouse, a spacious, late medieval house. On a clear day, there are superb views of the local Black Mountain and Hay Bluff, as well as the Brecon Beacons. The impressive exterior, and the range of barns and other ancient buildings, give an indication of the farmhouse's earlier status and grandeur. Personal touches including embroideries and photographs tell some of the building’s stories. Inside guests are welcomed by huge oak beams, stone tiled floors, wide-board oak and elm floors, leaded windows and elegant period furnishings.
On the ground floor, you’ll find the sitting room, kitchen, two dining rooms, utility room and WC. There are reception areas and rooms that give clues to the building’s past, like the back kitchen which leads into the building from a cobbled yard with an old hand pump, well and stone trough.
On the first floor, there are 5 bedrooms. Three are double bedrooms, two of them with four poster beds. One bedroom is a twin, and one can be either a double or a twin. One of the double bedrooms is reached by a short hallway that leads over the old cider house and stable buildings. There are two bathrooms on the first floor, one small and one large.
There is a large enclosed garden around the farmhouse, with an outdoor table and chairs. There are a number of public footpaths on the property and a bridleway runs through the farmyard.
The farmhouse is in the village of Brilley, 20 mile north west of Hereford.
