River View walk at Sutton Hoo (green walk)
Head out on the River View Walk across the Sutton Hoo estate. This moderate circular walking trail runs through tranquil woodland and offers stunning views across the River Deben towards Woodbridge.

Start point
Sutton Hoo reception and car park, Woodbridge IP12 3DJ. Grid ref: TM289493.
Step 1
After sorting site admission, go through the gate behind the café into the Garden Field. Turn right and follow the edge of the field, passing the overflow car park on your right. Please remember to shut the gate, as sheep graze here sometimes.
Step 2
Head through another gate into Browns Planting. At the signpost turn left, following the directions for River View Walk. Follow this path through the woods.
Step 3
Keep right at the fork in the path. You'll come to a clearing in the woods with a picnic area on the right.
Step 4
Facing the river, take the path immediately to the left of the picnic area, continuing south down the valley. Cross the vehicle access track at the bottom of the valley and carry on up through the woods on the other side.
Step 5
Continue through the woods, bearing a little to the left but keeping the river to your right. You'll pass a clearing on the right.
Step 6
Keep heading south-east along the woodland path. You should catch a glimpse of Tranmer House on the left before descending to the track in the valley.
Step 7
At the track, turn left and walk up back to the Sutton Hoo courtyard.
