Easter adventures in North Devon

Looking for a family adventure this spring? Our Easter trails are back this year at Woolacombe, Arlington Court, Lorna Doone, Baggy Point and Heddon Valley.

Each trail is different, packed with nature-themed activities and plenty of fun along the way. Follow the trail points and explore the great outdoors, plus don’t forget to pick up your chocolate egg or free from alternative on completion.

The trail runs from Saturday 28 March – Sunday 19 April (10am – 4pm) and costs £3.50 per child including a trail map and chocolate egg.

North Devon Walking Festival 

Step into adventure at the North Devon Walking Festival. Join our ranger and walking guides on spectacular walks across some of the region’s most iconic landscapes. From the valleys of Lorna Doone to the tranquillity of East Tichberry, woods at Alrington Court and the wild beauty of Heddon Valley.

Whether you’re looking for an easy-going scenic stroll or a more challenging hike, find out what we have on offer between the 11 – 16 May below.

All events are £3 per person, except the Photography Walk, which is £6. Normal admission charges to Arlington Court apply for Arlington’s Top Tree Walk. Booking is essential for all events except the Top Tree Walk.

Monday 11 May

Discover the Doone Valley, 10am - 12pm
This scenic walk showcases some of the area’s most breathtaking views, with sweeping valleys, rolling moorland and the rich, varied terrain that makes Exmoor so special.Find out more and book here

Tuesday 12 May 

Sunset photography walk at Marine Drive, Woolacombe, 7:30pm - 9:30pm
Ever wanted to learn how to capture your favourite views, looking to escape for some time outside for a couple of hours or just really love photography? This one is for you...Find out more and book here
Arlington Court - Wider estate hike 5 miles, 10:30am - 1:30pm
Take in the best views across the Arlington Estate with this 5-mile walk. This is a more challenging route that takes in steep terrain but is made worth it by the views!Find out more and book here

Wednesday 13 May

Heddon Valley to Woody Bay, 10am - 12pm
Join our ranger team on this 6-mile loop with views along the coast and across to Wales as you walk along some of the highest and most dramatic cliffs in England.Find out more and book here
Arlington Court - Wilder, wetter, woodier, 10am - 12pm
Join our ranger team for a guided walk exploring the wetlands development in School Woods and Winford Valley. This walk is about 2 miles at a gentle pace.Find out more and book here
Arlington Court - 'Top Trees' garden walk and talk
Join one of our garden team members for a stroll through the garden and learn about some wonderful trees in and around the garden. This walk is free but normal admission to Arlington Court applies. Running at 11am - 12pm & 1:30pm - 2:30pmFind out more here

Thursday 14 May

East Titchberry. 10am - 11:30am
Join the Hartland ranger team for a leisurely walk around this medieval farm, looking at its many wildlife-rich habitats. Taking in the fantastic views of the coast from above Shipload Bay and across to Lundy Island.Find out more and book here
Arlington Court - How the Chichester’s changed the landscape, 10:30am - 12pm
Join our knowledgeable walk leaders on this gentle 1.5 mile walk while learning about the history of the Arlington landscape and how it has changed over the years.Find out more and book here

Friday 15 May

Arlington Court - Wider estate hike 8 miles, 10.30am - 3pm
A great adventure into the depths of Arlington Estate, away from the crowds. A more challenging 8-mile walk, with a stop for lunch and to take in the views.Find more more and book here
