Belton will be at it's festive best from 25 November 2023 - 7 January 2024* (*closed Christmas Day). Celebrate your best-loved festive traditions and explore the mansion glittering in festive finery.

Christmas in the mansion

Add a little sparkle to your visit this festive season and wander through spectacular rooms decorated with twinkling lights and showstopping trees.

Step into a winter wonderland with snowy trees and discover the Hondecoeter dining room prepared for a festive feast, complete with name cards of previous famous guests. Be serenaded with peaceful piano music, as our volunteers play on selected days, adding to the enchanting atmosphere at Belton.

With lots of interactive moments, such as dressing up and enjoying a selfie moment or helping us to decorate a tree, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Opening times

25 November 2023 – 7 January 2024, open daily (closed Christmas Day), 11am – 3.30pm (last admission 3pm).

Entry is included in National Trust membership or normal admission to Belton. There is no pre-booking required for entry to the mansion.

Make the most of your visit

Beyond the mansion, the whole Estate will be festively decorated to create a magical atmosphere. Find inspiration to make the holidays extra special this year with a visit to the Gift Shop and indulge in a delicious hot chocolate and mince pie from the Stables Café. Why not pick up a game to play while you enjoy a bite to eat?

Sparkling Stars

Enjoy a star spotting trail in the mansion for families, with felt stars created by Belton volunteers hidden around the glittering rooms, before completing a star-themed activity at the end of your visit. Discover a wonderful community art installation along the cobbled drive, with stars decorated by Belton's local community groups. Wander through the formal gardens, and see if you can spot handcrafted stars, made by Belton staff and volunteers out of natural materials from the gardens.

Wish Tree

Take part in one of Belton's traditions, and visit the second-hand bookshop to decorate the Christmas tree with your festive wishes or messages.
