Set aside some 'me time' and learn a new skill in one of our workshops or courses. From learning intricate sewing skills to using a hammer and chisel, there are classes to suit all tastes.

Join us in the wonderful surroundings here at Wightwick to build on what you already know and see what you can do with your photography. Tutored Sessions for beginners and intermediate level photographers.

Professional photographer, Lindsey Bucknor OBE, will help demystify some of the language and help you to gain more confidence and enjoy what is a great activity.

The sessions will be 2 hours each. The cost of each session includes an A4 print from a picture you take on the day and brief notes to take away.

2-day Stone-carving workshop with Amerton Arts Studio - 17-18 May, 19-20 May, 13-14 July and 5-6 September 2020, 10am - 4pm each day.

Be inspired by the fantastic surrounding of Wightwick Manor over the course of this two day stone-carving workshop.

Miranda Wakeman from Amerton Arts Studio will show you how to bring your own creation to life in a stone sculpture for you to take home.

This two-day workshop will help guide you to create a relief or 3D piece in limestone inspired by the De Morgan ceramics.

Materials and tuition to create a finished limestone sculpture are included in the course, drinks refreshments also included.

Everyone works at their own pace with individual tuition, beginners are very welcome.


If you wish to extent your workshop over the full 4 days in May, please book onto both courses (cost £260) and this will give you the opportunity to create a more complicated piece, such as a green man or an owl. (4 day workshop subject to availability on both courses at time of booking and only valid during May classes).

Lino Print Workshop for Beginners - Wednesday 20 May 2020, 10am - 4pm.

Join Jacqui Dodds, painter and fine art printmaker as she teaches you the skill behind the art of lino printing.

This one day course will teach you the skills of lino printing as you design and develop your own patterns and images, which you can then print to create cards, bookmarks or simply as prints.

All tools are provided and tea/coffee are provided in the ticket price.

One Day Botanical Illustration Workshop with Jeni Neale - Wednesday 24 June 2020, 10am - 4:30pm.

Capture the rich hues and vibrant colours of summer with experienced botanical artist Jeni Neale, S.B.A Fellow. 

Working from the beautiful array of flowers from Wightwick Manor’s summer borders, learn how to capture their essence in easy watercolour washes. Jeni will demonstrate drawing and painting methods at each stage, along with tips and techniques that will provide a good foundation for further botanical studies.

Suitable for anyone who enjoy plants & flowers and would like to make a detailed record of their observations in detail, in pencil and watercolour paint. Enthusiastic beginners welcome.

Two-day Botanical Illustration Workshop with Bridget Gillespie - Tuesday 30 June to Wednesday 1 July & Tuesday 22 to Wednesday 23 September 2020, 10am - 4pm each day.

Join Bridget Gillespie, four times RHS Gold Medal winner, as she teaches you the skills and techniques required to make scientific recordings of plants. Be inspired by the Arts and Crafts garden here at Wightwick Manor.

Having taught botanical illustration for over 20 years, Bridget Gillespie has contributed to courses at the RHS and appeared on Countryfile.

This two-day workshop will give you demonstrations of the detailed observation, composition, drawing and watercolour techniques required to make scientific recordings of plants.

One to one tuition will support each student as work progresses over the two days. Some previous familiarity with drawing and watercolour will be helpful.

Introduction to Reduction Lino Printing - Wednesday 8 July 2020, 10am - 4pm.

Join Jacqui Dodds, painter and fine art printmaker as she teaches you the skills behind the art of reduction lino printing.

This one day workshop will help you learn how to make a two colour reduction lino print using your own image, photo or design.

This process is where one piece of lino is used multiple times in one print as the lino block is re cut after each colour is printed. We will also cover tools, materials and registration techniques.

Although this is intended as an intermediate level lino/relief workshop, beginners have attended this course with very good results.
