Get crafty in Swanley Grange
Easter school holidays. 11am-3pm
On your way down to the abbey from the visitor centre be sure to stop by Swanley Grange, the home of all things ‘wooly’ here at Fountains. Wool and textiles were a huge part of the medieval monk’s life here. What better way to connect to the past than to have a go sewing your own natural pattern patch to take home.
This activity is open to all ages so please do pop in and have a go.
Visit the play area
Don’t miss a trip to the play area this spring. The visitor centre restaurant for takeaway, baby change and toilets are just two minutes away - perfect for if little legs can't go very far.
There’s things to wobble along, jump over and climb on...you'll find a wooden abbey, a woodland house, scramble nets and posts, swings, fireman's poles, a slide, a roundabout, a gigantic rope bridge and a huge zip wire for the most daring adventurers of all.

Explore the play area at Fountains Abbey
Just two minutes from the visitor centre you can find the large natural play area. With a wooden abbey to climb over, swings, roundabout and zipwire there's plenty to keep the kids entertained for a few hours.
Be inspired by photography
This spring visit Fountains Mill and the follies throughout the water garden where photographs of this special place will be on display. Go on a journey through the seasons and explore the quiet, and sometimes unruly beauty of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal.
Pick up an exhibition map from admissions and take inspiration from Joe’s work and the way both nature and man has sculpted the design of the landscape here. Have a go at snapping your own photos and visiting areas of the estate you might never have seen before.
There’s a children’s trail too. Often the littlest eyes can see the most amazing things and this trail aims to engage these big imaginations. The trail will encourage the exploration of the whimsical themes in Joe’s work like hunting for hidden faces – they’re everywhere when you take the time to look!

Still Time to Wonder. An exhibition of photographs by Joe Cornish
