If you remember Claremont's fêtes champêtres in years gone by, you'll know just how fun it is to spend the evening in fancy dress. Children in Regency costume even get in free. Go the whole hog and make or hire your evening wear, or keep it simple and make a hat from a mat. Read our ideas to help you start planning your costume.

Promenade around the lake

At half past six, ladies and gentlemen in costume are invited to take the air on a grand promenade around the lake before taking supper. (Budding Mr Darcys are requested to refrain from taking a dip.)

Quoits on a lawn

Disport yourself

Let your hair down like an aristocrat with a game of Pall Mall on the amphitheatre (the precursor to croquet). Nine-pins and quoits will also be provided for your pleasure.

Sit for your portrait

In the Regency era, only the rich and famous were able to have their portrait painted. But tonight everyone can have their likeness captured in front of Princess Charlotte's charming tea-house.
