Family-friendly things to do in the garden

Explore the play area

Queen Victoria used to play at Claremont as a child, and now so can you, with scaled-down versions of Claremont's garden features, including the grass amphitheatre and Belvedere Tower. Explore the pavilion, glide down the slide and scale the ladders and the climbing wall.

With covered areas and an all-weather surface, you can have fun no matter what the British weather is doing.

The play area is ideal for younger children and parents with pushchairs. Find it near the cafe and toilets.

Playing safely

  • Age restrictions to the play equipment apply and children must be supervised by an adult at all times
  • The children's play area may be closed during extreme weather conditions, particularly when there's ice or snow
  • All the timber used in the play area comes from forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
  • Please keep dog outside the play areas

Build a den at Badger's Basecamp

Head to Badger’s Basecamp, a hidden woodland area that's perfect for older children to explore. Inspired by a badger’s sett, there are tunnels and hidey holes to discover and crawl through, a wooden badger to meet and a large open area for den building.

Follow the path next to the children's play area and climb the steps to the top of Stoney Hill to find Badger's Basecamp.
