Belvedere Tower at Claremont Landscape Garden

Open on a few days of the year, the Belvedere Tower is one of Claremont’s highlights and with its stunning vistas from the top, it is definitely worth the climb.

A piece of history

The tower was designed over 250 years ago by Sir John Vanbrugh for the Duke of Newcastle, who was then Prime Minister. It was a symbol of his wealth and power for all to see.

With thanks

When the original 150 acre estate was divided in ownership, the Belvedere Tower passed into the possession of Claremont Fan Court School. They kindly allow us to open the tower for you to visit on selected days.
