Come rain or shine, come to Morden Hall Park

A riverside path wends its way through Morden Hall Park

There’s nothing like a bracing winter walk to blow away some cobwebs and keep you energised and full of life. Morden Hall Park has plenty of variety to offer in winter for adults and children alike, with open meadows criss-crossed by tree-lined avenues, wooded riverside walks, a natural play area and cafes and a garden centre to warm up in.

Fun whatever the weather

Wrap up the little ones for fresh air and winter fun in the recently refurbished natural play area to keep up their immune systems, motor skills and physical fitness. If the weather gets too cold or wet, head indoors to the café, garden centre or bookshop to relax and warm up.

Youngsters can choose from a range of cold and hot food options in our Potting Shed Café and get into some colouring while they’re at it. The secondhand bookshop in the Stableyard has a good children’s section and Morden Hall Park Garden Centre is a positive treasure trove of toys and games for every age group.

Take some time for you

It’s important to stay active in the winter months for both physical and mental wellbeing. Ignore the old wives’ tale about catching cold and listen instead to the Scandinavians when they say there’s no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing.

Grab every opportunity to get outside during daylight hours. Exercise in nature helps boost your immune system, lowers risk for chronic diseases and lowers stress levels. When you’ve walked your favourite route or explored some of the lesser visited corners of the park and built up a healthy appetite, try our Stableyard Gallery and Café for some hot soup and some artistic food for your eyes.

Why not pop next door to browse the secondhand bookshop, with its collectables and shelves packed with classics, non-fiction and bestsellers, then take a short walk over the extremely well-stocked garden centre to get some ideas for your garden or pick up unique gifts and delicious treats. Morden Hall Park Garden Centre also stocks many items from the National Trust gift range.
