Mount Stewart House

During Mount Stewart Conversations festival weekend guests will be able to join exclusive House and Garden tours to gain a unique insight into the work that we do as Northern Ireland's largest conservation charity.

House tours

A dazzling array of history, culture and glamour, Mount Stewart Mansion House sits at the centre of Edith, Lady Londonderry’s ‘Land of hearts delight’. Visit the house and immerse yourself in the atmosphere and historic environment where poets, politicians and princes enjoyed the art of conversation.

Tour times

The house will be open from 11am–4.30pm for self-guided tours where our friendly and

informative volunteers will be pleased to welcome you.

Formal Garden tours

Lady Londonderry’s imagination drew upon influences as far reaching as Italian Renaissance gardens, Greek mythology and Scots and Irish Folk-lore and traditions. Join Neil Porteous on a tour of these world-class gardens and learn how to read the garden here at Mount Stewart.

Tours run on Saturday and Sunday and last approx one hour.  Max 40 people, please sign up at the information point. Tours leave from the front of house.

Tir n’an Og tours

Lady Londonderry revealed more of her character in the last project she embarked upon in the garden at Mount Stewart. Join Daniel Coomes on a journey to the family burial ground to explore the beautiful artwork and learn about the more devout side of Lady Londonderry's character.

Tours run on Saturday and Sunday and last approx one hour.  Max 40 people, please sign up at the information point. Tours leave from the front of house.

Demesne walks

Join our rangers on a walk to explore the newly created demesne trails. Route will be up to Temple of Winds (involving going up an incline) and back via Natural Play Area/yellow trail.

Subjects covered under guided walk will include features of interest, what we look after across Mount Stewart Demesne and Strangford Lough, work of ranger team and vision for developing the demesne going forward.

Tours run on Saturday and Sunday and last approx one hour.  Max 30 people, please sign up at the information point. Tours leave from the Lookout.
