The benefits of volunteering at Scotney Castle

Kick start the new year with a resolution to make new friends, spend time in amazing places and know that you’re helping a great cause – three fabulous reasons to get involved with volunteering at Scotney Castle this year.

There are lots of reasons to join us; as a Scotney volunteer you will become part of a friendly and dedicated team, meet people from all walks of life and forge new friendships along the way. Our opportunities allow you to not only use your existing skills but to learn new ones, helping to develop your career and make the most out of life. So if one of your New Year resolutions is to get out more and use your skills or learn new ones, why not get in touch and see what we can offer?

" “My favourite thing about Scotney is talking about the garden to visitors and harvesting the fruit. It’s great to be in contact with like-minded people - staff, fellow volunteers and visitors.” "
- Alan, Garden volunteer in the Walled Garden.

Our current volunteer roles include room guide, garden guide, ranger, retail volunteer, estate guide, gardener, visitor welcome assistant, premises volunteer, car park assistant and long-term house volunteer. For more information on these roles and to apply, visit our current volunteering opportunities page.

We also have a variety of specialised volunteer groups at Scotney who use their knowledge to enhance our visitor’s experience.  These include flower arranging, archiving, textiles, book cleaning and the house manual group. To find out more about the important work of our house manual group view our video.

If you have a specific skill or interest that isn’t reflected in the role descriptions and want to speak to someone about donating your time please send us an email or call us on 01892 893820 - option 4.
