Bookshop
located inside the house and subject to house opening times.
Car park
During wet weather the grass overflow has to close and cars park on hard standing. We then usually need several days of warm weather to dry the overflow out before reopening it.
Dogs allowed
On a short lead, not allowed in house, servery, first floor of tearoom or the play area. In walled garden, must be on short lead and on main path as we grow food. Allowed in ground-floor seating area of the tea-room. With min two people in your group, one can sit with the dog while the other orders. Assistance dogs welcome across the site.

Please be aware of deep water by the main bridge. Paths in the grounds are uneven at times. Woodland paths are difficult to navigate due to tree roots. Accessible toilets are located at the tea-room which is 1,200m from the car park.

Steps/uneven terrain
Access to first floor in the house is via a staircase only and this has no handrail. In the woods the paths have tree roots coming across them in places and can get very muddy.

Four miles north of Basingstoke between Bramley and Sherborne St John. Entrance to visitor car park is on Morgaston Road. what3words: pizzeria.person.gone
Parking: Parking is free. There is a 1/3 mile walk between visitor reception and the house. Blue badge parking is available. All parking is on hard standing.
Sat Nav: Will not take you to the main car park, instead follow National Trust brown signs and reach the visitor car park off Morgaston Road.
By train
Basingstoke 4 miles - taxi rank available outside of train station. Bramley 2½ miles - requires a walk of 2½ miles from this station. Note: Vyne Road has no foot paths.

Family-friendly things to do at The Vyne

From 11 Oct to 2 Nov, free trail ‘We’re Going on a Ghost Hunt’ Halloween Adventure offers family fun such as broomstick-racing and Halloween hoopla before collecting your sticker. Ideal for pre-schoolers and young children. From 22 Nov to 5 Jan (closed 24 & 25 Dec), free trail 'A Fairytale Christmas at The Vyne' showcases sparkling trees and magical scenes in the house. Youngsters will love the hilarious games and activities indoors and out.

Things to do in The Vyne house

The Sandys and Chute families made The Vyne their home for over 500 years. They accumulated beautiful and important objects and made significant changes to the house during their lives, which you will see as you explore the opulent state rooms and humble servants’ quarters. Marking 250 years since the birth of Jane Austen, you can enjoy exhibition 'Regency Revisited' and biweekly 'Jane Austen House Tours' for an additional £5 per person. From 22 November, immersed in the magic of best-loved fairy tales, all ages are welcome to wander the ground floor of the house aglow with sparkling Christmas trees. Read on for more information.
