Extra date added: Evening roof tours

On 22 August explore the rooftop walkway after hours on an exclusive guided tour in aid of a vital conservation project. Afterwards, you'll be led to the north lawn where you'll find a drinks reception waiting for you. There will be an opportunity to sign slate tiles that will go on The Vyne's new roof; a legacy that will last for centuries.

Once the chatter and bustle of our daytime visitors has died down, that’s when your exclusive experience begins. Guided by a friendly member of The Vyne team, you’ll be led round the rooftop walkway and given the latest update on the project so far.

Taking in every detail, you can ask questions as you go. The tour is an opportunity to uncover the unusual aspects of a project involving a historic house.

From making free-standing scaffolding that doesn’t touch the building, to numbering every single brick dismantled from our chimneys. We’ve also embarked on unexpected detective work to uncover what exactly has made paw prints on some of the historic tiles on the roof.

Discover why we’re sticking balloons up chimneys and why we’re not touching The Vyne’s chapel roof until after September.

After you’ve taken your fill on the roof, a foray out onto the north lawn will find you sipping bubbly while you think up ideas to put on your slate tile. As you indulge, you’re simultaneously aiding a vital conservation project so you can go home feeling virtuous!
