Soar Mill Cove
A small sandy cove that can only be reached on foot or by boat. The effort to get there is worth it, with an abundance of wildlife and a quiet spot to relax or explore.
Best visited at low tide, when there is plenty of beach, and rocks to climb and explore. If you're lucky, you might spot seals fishing close to the shore. It's a great place to bring a picnic or take a short hike inland and enjoy a sandwich and coffee at the cafe at Soar Mill Cove Hotel.
Head east from the car park and the cove is about a mile away. The route is steep in places, but you'll be rewarded with great sea views. The area is a haven for wildlife - look amongst the gorse and scrub and you may find birds like cirl buntings, stone chats and Dartford warblers.
