What to expect on your visit to Cliveden
We are delighted to be able to continue to welcome you to Cliveden for local exercise. The formal gardens and wider estate are open, along with the toilet facilities and refreshment kiosk. Pre-booking your ticket to the estate is essential in order to guarantee entry.
On arrival to Cliveden, please have your booking information ready, we will need to know the name your booking was made under, and the time slot you booked for in order to tick you off our list. Our team will welcome you from a safe distance, without any need for you to get out of your vehicle. Admission for National Trust members is free, but if we can offer you entry without a ticket and you are not a member you will need to pay for entry to the property. If you are a National Trust member please have your membership card ready to show us, whether you have booked or not. There is no time limit for your visit to Cliveden, so once you have entered the estate you are welcome to stay and explore for the rest of the day if you wish. The estate closes at 4.30pm.
If you arrive through our main entrance, after being welcomed by our team you will be directed to our Walled Garden car park. This car park has a limited number of spaces and tends to fill up quickly, but there is overflow parking available just a short walk away. We have a limited number of Blue Badge parking spaces available and are grateful to you for helping us reserve them for those visitors who need them most. Larger vehicles, such as campervans, are welcome but may be directed to a separate parking area and will not be able to stay on the property overnight.
If you are entering the estate via our woodland entrance you will find a small woodland car park. Please come prepared for the weather as this area can get muddy. The woodland car park will close at 4pm, so please ensure you return to your vehicle in plenty of time.
To help keep everyone safe, please follow social distancing and government guidance when you visit. And look out for signs while you’re here which will explain any changes to how you can access different parts of the site. Please bring a face covering with you, as you will be required to wear one when using the toilet facilities and in some other enclosed areas on the estate. Our facilities are all regularly cleaned throughout the day. A great way to look after the safety of yourself and others is to explore further afield than usual. Cliveden estate covers over 376 acres of land, and our woodlands and wider estate are perfect for a winter adventure. Collect an estate map from the outside of the Information Centre in the Walled Garden before setting off.
If you’re showing any of the symptoms of coronavirus, or if you've been in contact with anyone that has the virus in the last 14 days, please don’t visit.
Cliveden’s formal gardens and woodland are open to explore, excluding the maze which remains closed due to social distancing guidance. In some areas you may notice there are one-way systems in place. The Storybook Play Den is open for children to enjoy and is safety checked daily. On some colder days we may keep this area closed for longer if ice or frost is deemed to be a safety concern. Please ask a team member if you would like an update on when the play area might re-open. All toilet facilities across the estate are open and cleaned regularly throughout the day. The Cliveden Shop, Conservatory Café and Doll’s House Café are currently closed, but the Refreshment Kiosk in the Walled Garden remains open for takeaway hot drinks and snacks.
Cliveden House is leased as a five-star hotel and is not open to the public. The Chapel is currently closed for the winter months.
Throughout Cliveden’s formal gardens you will find mainly hard gravel paths, with some steep slopes, undulating terrain and steps. The paths in the woodlands and wider estate are more natural and can be muddy, stony or obstructed by tree roots. Access maps are available to collect from outside the Information Centre in the Walled Garden car park, where Blue Badge parking is also available. Accessible toilets are located in the Gas Yard, near the Storybook Play Den and at the Conservatory Café. Hearing loops are fixed at every till point. Cliveden's shuttle bus service is currently unavailable but we do have wheelchairs and all-terrain trikes available to hire for free, please pre-book by calling 01628 605069 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.

Cliveden estate highlights in winter
Our Gardens and Ranger teams work hard to keep the estate looking beautiful in all seasons, but winter is when Cliveden’s far-reaching views are at their most stunning. With fewer leaves on the trees you’ll find that vistas across the Berkshire countryside can pop up and surprise you at any turn. Pick up a walking leaflet from the Information Centre to guide you on your winter adventure. You may also be able to enjoy a few early signs of spring as snowdrops begin to emerge across the estate. Keep an eye out for these little clusters of white as you explore the Water Garden, and as you follow the path along Stable Bank by Blenheim Pavilion.
