Christmas in the Lake District

Our Christmas events have now finished for 2023. Please check back here later in the year for Christmas events in 2024 where we'll have plenty of ways to celebrate Christmas in the Lake District during a festive day out. Discover cosy houses decorated for the season and family trails through frosty winter gardens. Tuck into festive food and drinks, enjoy a refreshing winter walk and pick up special gifts for your loved ones away from the hustle and bustle of the high street.

Plan your family day out at Allan Bank

A roaring fire, a house decked with greenery, a wintery walk with views of snow topped fells. Take a moment to slow down and appreciate the simple things at Allan Bank. Keep an eye out for the red squirrels running to and from the feeders on the lawn, make a start on those Christmas crafts, help yourself to alcohol-free mulled punch and listen out for live music on selected days. Open Friday – Sunday throughout December.

Fell Foot

Wander along the lakeshore and enjoy great views north towards the Fairfield Horseshoe. It’s a great place to run off steam on a blustery day, dogs are welcome and there's always a warm seat by the fire in the Boathouse café.

Aira Force and Gowbarrow Park

We think winter is the best time to visit Aira Force - the waterfall is at its best after a spate of rain. Wrap up warm, feel the spray and blow away the winter cobwebs as it roars down the 65-foot drop. Spot fir trees decorated by local school children, grab a hot drink to enjoy as you explore or finish your festive adventure with a meal or snack in the tearoom.
