A relaxed Christmas at Allan Bank

A roaring fire, a house decked with greenery, a wintery walk with views of snow topped fells. Take a moment to slow down and appreciate the simple things at Allan Bank. Keep an eye out for the red squirrels running to and from the feeders on the lawn, make a start on those Christmas crafts and listen out for live music on selected days. Aira Force and Gowbarrow Park

We think winter is the best time to visit Aira Force - the waterfall is at its best after a spate of rain. Wrap up warm, feel the spray and blow away the winter cobwebs as it roars down the 65-foot drop. Treat yourself to a warming drink or light bite afterwards from the café.

Wander along the lakeshore and enjoy great views north towards the Fairfield Horseshoe. It’s a great place to run off steam on a blustery day, dogs are welcome and there's always a warm seat by the fire in the Boathouse café.
