Creative workshops in Bucks and Berks

New term, new skills. September always has a start-something-new vibe about it. If you're feeling the urge to get creative and build your skills, here are some creative workshops to book up at our places this autumn.

The south front of Canons Ashby

Canons Ashby

Canons Ashby has two creative writing workshops at Halloween on 31 October. There's spooky tales to scare siblings for children (8-12) in the morning and a flash fiction workshop for adults in the afternoon. You can also learn to make a weather-proof sculpture of a rabbit or hedgehog on 20 November with Powertex tutor Liz Dixon.

Parterre gardens in autumn

There are two watercolour workshops at Hughenden to help you capture the autumnal scenery of the Chilterns. They're run on 9 October and 6 November by local artist Paul Dean and include refreshments and lunch.

Cliveden House

Take inspiration from Cliveden's glorious garden for the floristry workshops on 22 and 25 October or spring planting workshops with Cliveden's senior gardener on 23 or 24 October.

Sunny Autumn day at Basildon Park

Basildon Park

Art classes with Paul Robbens are available at Basildon Park on 18 and 25 September. Artist Paul teaches classes in different media and will be concentrating on graphite and watercolours to capture Basildon Park's beauty in the changing season. Includes lunch.

Bridgewater Monument in autumn at Ashridge, Herts

Local photographer Lyndsey Abercromby is running a day workshop on 12 and 18 October about composition, depth and light to capture the autumn colour on the Ashridge Estate. Includes lunch. Local artist Liz Rogers is also running two watercolour workshops on 2 and 3 November from 1-4pm. Refreshments and materials included.

Autumn sun hitting the front of Chastleton House

Chastleton is over the border in Oxfordshire, but it's a wonderful property to visit. They have a pumpkin workshop on 3 November to create a flower-filled alternative to scary decorations at this time of year.
