Learning in the landscape

Enjoy yoga, photography and art courses at Petworth Park run by Aspire Sussex from Wed 9 Jun - Sat 25 Sep 2021. Here, you can experience a backdrop of rich countryside with herds of majestic deer roaming around, as you learn from experienced tutors about how to begin or enhance your creative skills.

Family nature therapy forest bathing

Have fun opening your senses and connecting to the natural world in the glorious setting of Petworth Park on these forest bathing sessions run by Eco Monkey, where you’ll be guided through a series of play-based invitations. These sessions are specifically for families (recommended for children aged 7 years and over). Sat 31 Jul, Wed 4, Sun 15 & Thu 26 Aug, 10:30am-12pm or 2-3:30pm. £45 per family.

Dawn to Dusk art exhibition  

Explore the specially commissioned work of Lucy Marks in this exhibition of artwork painted of and in Petworth Park itself. Lucy is a landscape painter, and Associate Member of the Royal Watercolour Society. She focuses on the dramatic and beautiful scenery of land, sky and sea in the UK. Paintings are in oil and watercolour, and are available for purchase. Exhibition entry is free, but please note a ticket is required to enter the House and Garden. Sat 3 Jul – Sun 12 Sep.

Archaeology in the Park guided walk

Explore Petworth Park and hear about the archaeological history and discoveries on this guided walk, from medieval farmsteads and a Tudor hunting lodge to World War II remnants. Sun 11 Jul, 10:30am-12:30pm. This event is free (£3 suggested donation), but booking is essential. Well behaved dogs on short leads welcome.

Perseids meteor shower & nocturnal wildlife guided walk at Petworth

Visit the Deer Park at night to learn about and discover some of the nocturnal wildlife here, from bats to owls, and try out a bit of star gazing. You might be lucky enough to catch the Perseids meteor shower before 10pm too. Thu 12 & Fri 13 Aug, 8-10pm. Adults £7.50, children free. Booking is essential. Assistance dogs only.

History in the Park guided walk at Petworth

This two hour guided walk covers the historic areas of the Deer Park, and what they were used for in the past. The walk explores Coney Park and Little Park all the way to Outwood, lost gardens and commons as well as the emergence of the Brownian Deer Park. Fri 10 Sep, 10:30am-12:30pm. Free, £3 suggested donation. Well behaved dogs on short leads welcome.
