As seen in our new Holidays film - Escape the city in this charming rural retreat, based on the fringes of the South Downs. The Grade II listed farmhouse and the surrounding buildings have remained largely unaltered since the 19th-century and retain a unique country charm. Remnants of its past can be found in each room from the low beamed ceilings and inglenook fireplaces to the latticed windows and even an internal well.

You’ll be surrounded by the Surrey Hills, with lots of countryside walks nearby. You could walk to Hindhead Commons and the Devil’s Punch Bowl or drive there in 10 minutes. This is perfect walking country with footpaths leading through shady woods or across open heathland with grazing cattle and wild ponies.

Other attractions nearby include Winkworth Arboretum, which is just a 20-25-minute drive from the cottage. Further into the South Downs, you’ll find the 17th-century country house, Petworth, a 35-40-minute drive away.
