Garden workshops for all at Berrington Hall
Each month this year we’re offering you the chance to join our Senior Gardener on a seasonal workshop. With a chance to get some expert advice from the Gardener, and have a go at doing gardening in Berrington’s walled garden and pleasure grounds, this shouldn’t be missed.
Throughout each season at Berrington you will be able to find a new workshop that will offer you the chance to pick up expert gardening tips from our Senior Gardener. You will be surrounded by Berrington’s gardens and be able to uncover secrets about how Berrington’s gardens are maintained and cared for. Please find a brief list of the workshops we have on offer at the bottom of the article.
One day you might be ‘Snowdrop splitting and lifting’ and joining the Gardener to learn the secrets behind Berrington’s own snowdrops. You could learn about how to care for them and make sure that your own are protected. Then you might have a go at creating a cut flower border, as our Gardener teams up with expert florist ‘The Orange Pip Florist’ to share with you all you need to know about caring for your flower borders.
After a couple of hours of hands on experience in Berrington’s gardens, you can reward yourself and use your ticket to receive lunch and hot drink from Berrington’s tea-room.
The workshops have been designed as part of Berrington’s ‘Berrington Garden Project’. They are a way for the Berrington team to inform visitors about this project and for visitors to make their own connections to Berrington’s gardens.
The Berrington Garden Project is a large scale project which will revive, conserve and develop Berrington’s ‘Capability’ Brown walled garden. The final masterpiece of ‘Capability’ Brown, Berrington’s gardens are one of only two in the country that Brown designed to this unique curved shape.
The team at Berrington are working with community groups as part of the garden project. By doing this, the team are offering people from all walks of life the opportunity to connect with Berrington’s gardens. These practical workshops are another step towards this, as visitors are offered the chance to make their own link to Berrington’s gardens and have their own input.
