Enjoy a gentle stroll down to and around the lake on largely level terrain, taking in the sights, sounds and scenery of Berrington's parkland along the way.

Paths closed due to lambing

Some of the paths through the parkland will be closed during the lambing season. The routes may change meaning this walk may be partially effected. Please stick to the open paths and do not climb over any gates that have been locked. Thank you for your understanding.

Start point

The gateway beyond visitor reception; grid ref: SO51109 63702

Step 1

Upon leaving visitor reception, walk down the main drive until you see a gate on your left allowing entrance to the parkland. The route is marked as the red trail on the marker posts.

Step 2

Head straight down from the first gate towards the lake. When you reach the lake take a moment to take in our 'Tech-free zone' – just enjoy the simple pleasure of taking in the fresh air and the view of Berrington from the lake.

Step 3

When you're ready, turn right and walk around the lake with the lake to your left and Berrington on your right. Once you've reached the far top corner of the lake, head through the small gate on your left and follow the walkway. The lake should be on your left-hand side and Berrington should be behind you. Follow this pathway all the way around the lake and take in the view of Berrington from all the different angles.

Step 4

Once you have made it around the lake, with the mansion ahead of you, and the heronry island and lake's jetty to your left, head back towards the gate that you initially approached the lake from. Retrace your steps back through the field until you reach the gate where you began your walk.

End point

The main house
