The girls have done it! The Big Push 24 hour cycle challenge is complete. It wasn't without drama - there was one fall and three 'mechanicals' along the way - but the team pushed on... and hit their £20,000 target with just a couple of laps to go!
Big Push - Information & Diary
In March 2018, the iconic ornamental bridge at Clumber was devastated after a terrible incident of vandalism.
The repairs to the bridge will be met and covered by our insurance and we will rebuild the bridge you love so much. However out of adversity comes opportunity and when the scaffolding is in place for the bridge repair work, we will be able to carry out restoration to other areas of the bridge – this is essential work that is needed, but which is not covered by our insurance.
You can help us to support that work.
Four Clumber Park employees are taking part in a grueling 24 hour cycling challenge to raise funds to restore the iconic Ornamental Bridge after a terrible incident of vandalism.
Members of our Supporter Engagement Team are hoping to raise £20,000, which will go towards the additional restoration costs of the bridge. Any funds raised over this target will go towards conservation work in the wider parkland.
The four are 'not-so-seasoned' cyclists by their own admission, but have been inspired take this opportunity to fund additional work to the bridge.
Each team member will be doing their share of the cycling in a 'relay' type approach, with each expected to cycle around 140 miles in 24 hours around Clumber Lake.
Torri Crapper, Supporter Engagement Manager, will be joined by Kate Stark, Sara Gacem and Claire Sarris, and admits that although none of the team have any real cycling experience, they are all relishing the challenge and the chance to raise money for such an important cause.
She said, "We don't currently own our own bikes and have never been on a bike ride together, so it's safe to say this will be an experience for us all!"
"The morning I saw the bridge had been vandalised in such a way, it was completely heartbreaking".
"Over the years it has been standing, people have made their own memories here be it cycling over the bridge with family, or walking over, spending special precious moments here".
"In all of the sadness, the support for the park was just lovely. We want to do our bit to help raise funds to restore this beautiful feature of Clumber Park".

9 days to go!
"We have had our last long training ride this week, putting in 3 stints during the evening on Monday. It was a tough session and we were tired on Tuesday. That’s why the news of an anonymous donation pushing us over the 80% mark really reminded us why we are doing this. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, we are moving closer to our target. Please do support us in any way you can. The team will be around over the Easter weekend talking to visitors in the Laundry Yard (just outside the shop), if you are visiting the park please do come and have a chat." - Kate
