Malt House

You’ll be able to retreat to the ‘tower room’ or lounge on the limekiln-top garden when you stay in this uniquely striking house. The three-bedroom quay-side cottage sits on the historic Cotehele estate, where the River Tamar meanders its way past, providing you with captivating views of the water.

In stark contrast to its rustic turret-adorned exterior, bright and stylish interiors run throughout. You’ll find a modern kitchen and dining space complete with a multi-fuel stove, three spacious bedrooms, a large sitting room and a contemporary bathroom. And as you’ll be within a stone’s throw to the water’s edge, there’s storage for you to bring your own canoe or kayak.

You’ll also have free, out of hours access to the gardens and wider estate of Cotehele, where you’ll be able to explore its network of walking trails. Further afield, The Tamar Valley, which meanders down from Launceston into the Plymouth Estuary, offers an abundance of walking, cycling and horse riding adventures. Or if you prefer to let the train take the strain, take the Tamar Valley Line from Plymouth to Gunnislake, crossing the Calstock viaduct.

Layout

Ground floor: Hall. Large sitting room with woodburner. Open plan kitchen and dining room with woodburner. Utility porch with space for bike/kayak storage.

First floor: The family bathroom, with bath and walk-in shower, is on the first landing. Stairs then lead to the first floor with three bedrooms: one 6' double bedroom with en-suite shower room, one 6' double bedroom (which can be made into a twin on request) and one twin bedroom. The "Tower Room" is a snug with tub chairs and a television, and has three windows, each with a different view.

Outside space

A small patio area immediately outside the cottage, which has a six piece outdoor furniture set. There is also a grassed garden opposite the cottage, across the lane, with a bench and views over the river. The garden areas are not fully enclosed.
