What's on this Summer at Polesden Lacey

Escape to Polesden Lacey this summer. Relax on the South Lawn to the sound of gentle laughter of children playing, feel the warmth of the sun on your face and just soak up the glorious views. Start the summer off by celebrating the Platinum Jubilee, then enjoy the Rose Festival, Lazy Jazz and Pop-up Shakespeare. For the younger ones there's a host of summer holiday fun planned too.

Treasured Possessions: Riches of Polesden Lacey 

Launching this spring is a brand-new exhibition - Treasured Possession: Riches of Polesden Lacey. Discover the amazing collection of art and objects Mrs Greville purchased to furnish her weekend party house and gain a fascinating insight into Mrs Greville’s life through the stories told behind the artefacts in her collection.

Garden gathered bouquet floral workshop 

Join us for an inspiring morning learning to create and wrap a lovely hand-tied bouquet in a garden-gathered style using 100% British grown flowers (with a few from the Polesden cutting garden too). With expert guidance from Surrey florist, Leanne Smith, from Wildstone Floral, you'll not only take home your own floral masterpiece but gain some new skills as well.

Story Explorers 

Bring your little story explorers for a morning of fun with a story, rhymes and a fun nature-based craft activity. Join us for stories and fun activities. The journey starts in our charming old Stable Block with a story followed by a nature trail walk to Crab Apple Orchard where there will be a craft activity to complete in our beautiful bell tent.

Every Wed, 8 Jun – 20 Jul, 10.30am – 12pm. Normal admission applies. Please book in advance or ask at Visitor Reception if there on-day spaces available.

Polesden Lacey's Rose Festival 

The stunning Edwardian walled rose garden is a sight to behold in summer. In celebration of this, join us from 11 June to 17 July when everything will be coming up roses at Polesden. What better way to bring in the summer.

Lazy jazz on the South Lawn 

Relax in the summer sun to the sound of smooth jazz drifting from the terrace and out across our majestic views of the rolling Surrey hills. Lazy jazz takes place every Sunday afternoon through June, July and August. Normal admission applies.

Come out and play

Challenge yourself to go further, faster, for longer with seven sporting challenges. Weave around the posts in a wheelbarrow slalom, reach your personal best in our track challenge or test your hand-eye coordination with a game of frisbee golf. For something a little more energetic, have a go at the circuit challenge and see how many jumping jacks or squats you can do in 30 seconds.

Pop-up Shakespeare

Join us for a humorous take on some of the bard's most celebrated plays, enacted by The Cat's Grin Theatre Company, throughout the gardens. There's no extra charge to see pop-up Shakespeare but normal admission applies.

A wildflower meadow

Sights of summer ranger-led walk  

What better way to celebrate National Meadow Day on Saturday 2 July, than by joining the rangers on these guided walks which take you through our chalk grasslands. Learn more about this habitat and the restoration project being undertaken in this area and see if you’re lucky enough to spot the butterflies and other wildlife that are benefiting from the restoration of this area.

Flying bat at the dead of night

Polesden Lacey Bat Walks 

Join us every Wednesday throughout August on a twilight walk (8.30pm - 10.30pm) around the estate and discover these wonderful creatures. See the bats dart and dive and hear their 'silent' nocturnal calls with special detectors.

£20 per person, children 12yrs and under £10. Booking essential

Meet the rangers

Come and meet the superheroes of the woodland and learn about the conservation work carried out on the Polesden Lacey estate. Check out some of the tools and machinery they use and climb on board their tractor. The woodwork team will also be showcasing their work including bird boxes and chopping boards as well as their fire logs and charcoal.

Every other Saturday from 2 July, 10am to 2pm. Normal admission applies.
