1 Bagden Farm Cottage is a warm and welcoming retreat for six people, decorated with a contemporary feel and surrounded by countryside. Barns stood on this spot in the past, which is now in the care of the National Trust.
Built with sustainability in mind, the flint-walled barn is clad in red cedar from the Polesden Lacey estate. The oak detailing in the barn is also from the estate, helping to reduce transportation. There are ground-mount solar panels which help provide electricity.
The site is home to owls, bats and Roman snails. There are bat tunnels in the loft space, and with an owl box on site, you can often hear them calling at dusk.
Inside, you’ll find rustic beams, beautiful tiles and a contemporary blue, orange, and cream palette. In the living room, the log burner is surrounded by comfortable seating, and French doors lead out onto a paved courtyard. The large dining kitchen looks onto the garden.
You’ll find a fully accessible bedroom with ensuite on the ground floor. Upstairs, there are two more bedrooms, each sloping into the eaves, and a family shower room.
The barns back onto the wider Surrey hills estate, and there are great walks from the doorstep. Polesden Lacey is a 20-minute walk through the fields, Box Hill is a ten-minute drive away with views across London and the Surrey hills. Ranmore common is within walking distance of Bagden Farm Cottages. Clandon Park and Hatchlands Park are also nearby.
Bagden Farm is surrounded by bridle paths so you will regularly see riders passing by.
Westhumble is the closest village which has a pub and a train station with routes into London. Bookham is also close by with local shops.
1 and 2 Bagden Farm Cottages share some outside space and can be booked together for a larger group. Each barn has its own private courtyard.
