OctoberFest comes to Langdale
From Friday 19 til Sunday 21 October, Sticklebarn will be bringing a new and exciting experience to the Langdale Valley. Langdale’s OctoberFest celebrates traditional Cumbrian Heritage and the Nordic influence on the Lakeland landscape through live music, food, local ales and activities. We'll be updating this page with full information soon, so keep an eye out.
Set below the rugged slopes and craggy summits of the Langdale Pikes, this innovative event combines an eclectic mix of live music, outdoor events and film with traditional Cumbrian food, local ales, craft beers and lager. There will also be family friendly activities and crafts during the day to offer something for everyone.
The Norse element of the festival will be reflected in the décor of the event, with tipis erected on the terrace, lanterns and candles, and sheepskin rugs throughout. It is thought that the now native Herdwick Sheep originated from Scandinavia – with ‘Herdwyck’ meaning sheep pasture.
" We’ve partnered up with some incredible teams of people to make the first Langdale OctoberFest the best it can possibly be. Grand Day Out in Cumbria, Arcteryx, Langdale Marathon, FreakMusic, Tirril Brewery and many more all embrace what this festival is about - Heritage, great food and drink, entertainment and the Lake District!"
On the line-up so far are Dessie Magee, Imperial Leisure, Echo Town, Paper Cranes, The Dustbowl Children, Thieving Magpies, Luke Daniels, Hannah Sanders and Ben Savage and many more. To keep up to date with all the OctoberFest news join the event on Facebook @NTSticklebarn.
Entry into the event is free and all money raised will go back into looking after the Langdale Valley. Timings for the weekend are 3-11pm Friday, 10am-11pm Saturday and Sunday.
