Cathedral Quarry is a disused slate quarry, gifted to the National Trust by Beatrix Potter. The site is a legacy of the area’s quarrying past, shaped by humans and now slowly being reclaimed by nature.
Large numbers of visitors are putting pressure on this sensitive landscape and nearby communities. We want you to enjoy your visit, but please be considerate by planning ahead and following a few simple guidelines.
Need to Know Before You Go
When visiting – look after yourself

- Wear sturdy boots with grippy soles - paths can be steep and slippery.
- Mobile phone coverage in the area is unreliable, download the route in advance and take a map or a screen shot of this information.
