Easter adventures competition in the South West

For the 2019 Easter school holidays, we had a lot of fun across the South West with a social media competition. People sent in their best photos of the challenges they completed using #EasterAdventureCompetition and a winner was selected on Monday 29 April 2019.

Easter products.

What was up for grabs?

By taking a photo and sharing it on social media using the competition hashtag #EasterAdventureCompetition you could have won a selection of National Trust Easter goodies: an egg hunt bag, two Easter soft toys, National Trust Easter biscuits, fudge and chocolates, an Easter-themed children's book, Easter bunny ears and a bunny cookie cutter. The competition ran from Monday 8 April until midnight on Sunday 28 April 2019, and a winner was chosen by random selection on Monday 29 April.

How long can you stand on one leg? Or better yet, can you do a handstand? Let’s see a video of your longest attempt.

South Terrace at Dunster Castle

Doodling at Dunster Castle

Have a doodle in the garden using the natural materials you can find such as leaves, twigs and fallen petals. Use these supplies to create some wild art, and share your creation on social media.

Statue in the grotto at Stourhead, Wiltshire

Stealthy statues at Stourhead

Can you pretend to be one of the statues in the garden, and see if your friends and family can tell the difference between you and the real deal?

Two boys examine a Castle Quest shield at Corfe Castle

Go undercover at Corfe Castle

You can dress up in medieval costume and create your own coat of arms with chalk and shield at Corfe Castle; once you've done that, it will be like you've stepped back in time.

A child cartwheeling

Cartwheels at Cotehele

Who can do the best cartwheel on the lawn? Have a 'cartwheel off' and share a snap of your champion.

Family fun at Tyntesfield

Trick or trust at Tyntesfield?

Cover your eyes and try to walk in a straight line down one of the paths in the garden, with only your friends or family guiding you where to walk. Will they give you trustworthy directions, or trick you into walking in circles?

The house at Kingston Lacy

Count the clouds at Kingston Lacy

How many do you have to dodge in a rain shower? Or are you lucky enough to visit when there isn’t a cloud in the sky? Let’s see your pictures of the sky at Kingston Lacy, and let us know how many clouds you counted.

Close up of child's bare feet amongst grass

Toes at Trerice

Can you tick off one of your '50 things to do before you're 11¾' by going barefoot? Snap a picture of your toes tootling around Trerice (we'd recommend sticking to the nice soft grass for this).

Daffodils framing the view of the house at Saltram, Devon

Silly statues at Saltram

Strike a pose in the garden, pretending to be a grand statue. Who can be the silliest ‘statue?’ Don’t forget to stay completely still and share a picture of the winner.

A song thrush at Croft Castle in Herefordshire

Killer tunes at Killerton

If you keep quiet in the garden, you should hear birds tweeting in the trees. Can you mimic what they’re singing, and share a video of the best bird-like-song?

A family dancing in a garden

Do the Dyrham Park dance

Find a quiet spot outside to bust your best moves. Can you find the statue of Neptune that looks like he’s dancing?
