Ringmore and Kingston

These two small villages are perfect places to start and end walks along the coast. The Journeys End Inn at Ringmore and the 16th century Dolphin both offer refreshment before or after your walk.


From Ringmore you can discover Ayrmer Cove, an amazing pebbly beach with unusual rock formations. Download the Ayrmer Cove walk here, or try a short circular walk taking in the surrounding areas here.


How to get to Ringmore

Address: Ringmore, Kingsbridge, Devon, TQ7

By cycle: See local cycle routes on the Sustrans website http://www.sustrans.org.uk/

On foot: South West Coast Path from Plymouth through to Wembury. Continue on to Warren Point, where you can take the seasonal ferry across to Noss Mayo and rejoin the path through to the River Erme (can only be crossed at low tide). The path continues towards Netton and heads on through to Ayrmer Cove.

By train: Ivybridge, 9 miles; Plymouth 16 miles.

By road: Follow A379 from Plymouth, turn right onto B3392 and head south to Ringmore.

By bus: Tally Ho! SH875, Plymouth to Ringmore, Friday only.

Accessibility at Ringmore

Numerous benchs along footpaths to rest and enjoy the views.  A great circular walk from Ringmore car park to Ayrmer Cove. Very steep section can be avoided if you walk through the village and along the valley, then retrace your steps after you've visited the beach.

How to get to Kingston

Follow A379 from Plymouth. As you come up the hill out of Modbury turn right onto B3392 sign posted to Bigbury. Follow this windy road through to St Anns Chapel and turn right just after the Pickwick Inn signposted to Ringmore and Challabrough. Follow this road right through the village of Ringmore and the National Trust Ayrmer Cove car park is signposted on the right as you exit Ringmore village.
