This Christmas, discover the magic of the Nutcracker at Winkworth Arboretum. Follow Clara’s footsteps through the winter woodlands, uncovering storybook scenes and meeting life-sized nutcracker sculptures. Enjoy festive games along the trail, then warm up with seasonal treats from the tearoom. Don’t miss the vintage carousel for the perfect festive day out.

Christmas at Winkworth Arboretum

Saturday 29 November to Sunday 5 January.

A walk at Winkworth is always a joy, with winding paths and stunning views. Over Christmas, it’s the perfect spot for a frosty stroll or a festive family outing. This year, discover added seasonal charm with a Nutcracker-themed trail through the arboretum.

The Nutcracker at Winkworth

Pick up a trail map from the kiosk and follow Clara's footsteps through themed scenes from the story from the twinkling Snowflake Forest to the colourful Land of Sweets. Along the way, enjoy interactive games like knock down Nutcracker, magical mirrors, candy-themed challenges, and even a chance to dance with the Sugar Plum Fairy. With festive scents, costumes, and a festive finale, it’s a a wonderful walk at Winkworth the whole family can enjoy this holiday season.

Whilst on you're exploring the arboretum look out for the giant Nutcracker soldiers bringing the story to life at Winkworth.  There are eight to be found in the upper part of the arboretum.

Don't forget to wander over to the Arbor tea room where you'll find warm drinks and treats, plus our crêpe concession, The Coffee Jet, selling sweet and savoury crêpes alongside barista-made organic coffees and teas. (Due to intermittent internet connectivity, we recommend bringing cash). 

Whilst you're enjoying your treats, take a spin on the vintage carousel ride.

The carousel will operate from 10.30 to 3.30 Friday to Sunday from Sat 29 Nov until Sun 14 Dec and every day between Thur 18 Dec and Sun 4 Jan (closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). Carousel rides are charged at £3.50.

Please be aware the carousel will not operate in adverse weather conditions.
