What is Gift Aid?

Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points. Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:

  • Gift Aid Admission or
  • Standard admission

If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you the Gift Aid Admission prices. But it's entirely up to you which ticket you choose. If you want the Standard Admission instead, just let us know when you come to pay.

Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid* — an extra 25 per cent — potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below: Payment of the additional percentage donation is entirely voluntary, so if you prefer to pay the standard admission please advise our reception staff at the till point.

This day is packed full of pumpkin fun; with pumpkin carving (£2.50 per pumpkin), pumpkin themed games and activities and pumpkin snacks to try. You can follow the pumpkin trail around the garden and try pumpkin flavoured dishes in the tea-room.

October half-term fun

Come along to the bookshop (11-4) and you can try apple bobbing or making toffee apples with Trengwainton-grown apples. There'll be pumpkin themed games in the Orchard plus a pumpkin trail along winding wooded paths - perfect for welly walking.

Spooky storytelling

Tales of Trengwainton with a spooky twist, as told by Mark Harandon. Stories start on the hour (none at 1pm) in the bell tent in the orchard. Booking not needed, but it may be necessary to limit numbers for each session.

Christmas Lantern Walk

Start your Christmas season with the walled gardens lit by lanterns, flaming torches and fairy lights. Visit Father Christmas in his grotto (£2.50 per child, timed tickets issued on the night). Hot snacks plus performances by local bands and choirs.
